Naked Eye Make-up

Standard

Here is my every day eye make-up routine.  It takes me about 5-10 minutes in the morning and is fairly easy.  The reason I really like this look is because it isn’t too much eye make-up especially for the daytime.

First Step: Apply Urban Decay’s “Eyeshadow Primer Potion” all over the eye lid and up to the brow line.  A little goes a long way with the primer.

Second Step: Fill in eyebrows with Anastasia Beverly Hills “Brow Powder Duo” in Brunette/Dark Brown (or in whatever color your eyebrows are.  I highly suggest filling out your eyebrows because they do make a their own statement and you don’t want to have them looked over.

Third Step: In the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay, I brush on “Suspect” all over my eyelid using the fluffiest end of the brush that is provided with the palette.

Fourth Step:  Apply “YDK” from the palette using a smaller brush to your crease.

The brush on the left is what I used to apply "YDK" to my crease and the brush on the right is what I used on my brow.

Sixth Step: Apply “Bootycall” up to the brow bone and on the inner corners of the eye to brighten the whole look.

Seventh Step:  Apply a thin line of NYX “Liquid Black Eyeliner” to the upper eyelid right next to the lash line.  Then apply Rimmel’s “Soft Kohl” eye liner pencil on the lower water line.  I add a brown eyeliner as opposed to a black liner to the bottom lash line because it makes the overall look more soft.  Black on the upper lash line really makes your eyelashes look more full.

Eight Step:  Curl eyelashes.  I have a few secrets when it comes to eyelashes.  My first secret: when you are curling your eyelashes start from the very bottom, as close to your eye as possible.  Slowly move up your eyelashes, clamping the curler at different levels.  This makes your lashes mega-long!  Once you’ve finished curling apply your mascaras.  Yes, plural!  I first apply Covergirl “Lash Blast Volume”.  When I apply this I make sure to wiggle the wand back and forth on my lashes to make sure no clumping occurs.  The second mascara I apply is Maybelline’s “Lash Stiletto”.  I also wiggle it back and forth.

Now your look is complete!!  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns just let me know.  I hope you enjoyed my post!  Thank you for reading!

Denver in the Winter

Standard

Denver is absolutely magnificent in the winter/Christmas time.  Sure, it may be a bit cold (high of 15 degrees today!) but you really do feel like you are walking through a winter wonderland.  Each time I visit Denver during the winter I see something even more extraordinary than I did the year before.  The whole city lights up with white lights which adds a very elegant and inviting feel.  Icicles on old buildings are natural decorations that contribute to the magic.  If you have never been to Denver, or Colorado for that matter, I strongly suggest visiting during the winter time as there is so much beauty to be seen!

The Brown Palace Hotel is an absolutely gorgeous building in Denver.  The building features architecture by Frank E. Edbrooke, who designed the building in the Italian Renaissance style.  When you initially walk up to the front doors, you can see brilliant stained glass which invites to come in and explore the rest of the hotel.  When you enter inside and look up it appears as though the hotel goes on for miles and you can see the large chandelier that is the centerpiece of the lobby.  If you decide to come here be sure to ask the front desk if you can have a tour of the Presidential suite, it is a wonderful and breathtaking experience.

The Trinity Methodist Church is located in the heart of Denver and is Colorado’s most historic church.  When you walk inside the church you become instantly mesmerized by the stained glass and paintings.  The inside of the church has been well preserved since the late 1800’s.  Be careful, however, this church is known to be haunted, I even got a little scare from one of the friendly ghosts who closed a door on me!

The Navarre is right across from the Brown Palace Hotel and has been home to an all girls’ school, a museum, and a hotel.  There is even a rumored underground tunnel that connects to the Brown Palace.  The Navarre is unfortunately not open to the public but is still a must-see in Denver!

Peace Sign Nails

Standard

peace sign

I originally saw these kind of nails in a magazine and decided to spin it a little to make them my own!  I have received a lot of questions on whether I did these myself or not and the answer is “yes”!  Let me show you how!

What you will need:

  • Sally Hansen: Advanced Hard as Nails, Nylon + Retinol Strengthener
  • Sally Hansen: “Back to the Fuchsia”
  • Sally Hansen: Black Platinum”
  • Kiss Nail Art Paint in Black (Walgreen’s)
  • Sally Hansen: “Mega Shine”

This style is relatively easy as long as you have steady hands.  The only difficulty I came across was trying to draw the fine lines on my left hand.

First Step:  Prep your nail (file, buff, cut cuticles).  Put on the clear Hard as Nails nail polish to help protect your nails and also build up the strength.  Putting on a clear coat can also help prevent your nails from being stained by your nail polish.

Second Step: Apply “Back to the Fuchsia” (hot pink) to your thumb, middle, and ring fingers.  Wait until dry and apply a second coat.  This is my favorite color of all time so just be aware that you may fall in love with it!

Third Step:  Apply “Black Platinum” to you pointer and little fingers.  You may have to apply three coats because this is a rather thin paint and will not show a true black with just two coats.

before1

Fourth Step: Take the nail art paint in black and carefully outline the the outer edges of your thumbnail and ring finger.  You really want to make sure that this is a thin line, you don’t want it to be too thick.  Once you have outlined your nail, draw a thin line down the middle of your nail.  Once the line is to your liking make two lines branching out to create a peace sign.

Fifth Step:  For your middle finger, we are creating a french manicure.  Draw a line that follows the curve of your upper nail.  You may want to make this line a little more thick so it is more apparent.

Sixth Step:  Once your nails have completely dried, apply the “Mega Shine” to make sure your new look stands out!

And you are finished!!  This is by far my favorite nail design I have tried, I hope you enjoyed it too!!  Thank you for reading! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns just let me know! 🙂 xoxo
